The place
Five timber buildings in South Congress, Austin, designed with architecture studio Lake Flato and opened in 2021. Hotel Magdalena takes its cues from the city's lake houses and its music scene — white oak furnishings, mid-century decor, curated objects, everything warm and unhurried.
The 89 studios and suites hold to a minimal white-and-wood palette, offset by playful furnishings, concrete floors, and bathrooms tiled in vivid ceramic — bright red, green, blue, yellow. Custom Sferra linens and Sangre de Fruta bath products come standard.
At the center sits a tranquil 900-square-foot sunken outdoor pool, ringed by plush loungers. Complimentary loan bikes wait for neighborhood rides. Summer House on Music Lane serves all day, moving easily between casual and refined.
