The place

In the mountains of Telluride, Colorado, Madeline Hotel & Residences is a ski hotel of unusual comfort. Rose Ink Workshop's recent revamp draws on folkloric Swiss chalets: the 110 rooms carry classic Alpine tones and sophisticated furniture, each with a private balcony and a soaking bathtub for cold evenings.

The centerpiece is the outdoor pool, ringed with loungers and firepits, where the San Juan Mountains fill the view. Skiing, hiking, snowmobiling, and fly fishing wait just beyond the door. Black Iron Kitchen + Bar serves modern mountain cuisine; the Timber Room, an intimate living room of a space, keeps to cocktails and small bites.
