Margate House

The place

A townhouse near Margate's Old Town, easy to walk past. Behind the brick and stone facade, the rooms turn to dusty pink, deep red and terracotta; the original brick fireplace and wooden floors remain.

There are nine rooms, no more. Each is put together with a wavy velvet headboard, custom and vintage furniture, and contemporary artwork — plus plush king bedding, soft linens and Haeckels bath products. There is no restaurant. The Drawing Room serves a continental breakfast each morning, and drinks after that.
