Forty acres of Oxfordshire, in the Cotswolds, where London architect Michaelis reworked a cluster of 18th-century farmhouses and new buildings into a countryside retreat.

The 114 bedrooms and cabins lean rustic — wood, patterned fabrics, vintage-inspired pieces — with soft bedding, a rainforest shower and free wifi behind the calm. Days pass on the water, the tennis court, or on horseback.

There is a semi-outdoor pool, onsen-style baths, an ice room, a steam room, infrared saunas. The eateries range from classic Western to Japanese, all within the estate.
