The place

Beside the Port Vell marina, in the Gothic Quarter, the London members' club settled into an 18th-century building with a pink facade. Inside: Catalan prints and palettes, vaulted ceilings, exposed brick, furnishings with an old-club ease.

The 56 rooms and suites lean toward an English country club — rich colors, classic pieces, nothing rushed.

A rooftop pool for the sun; an indoor pool for the rest of the year. There is also a large fitness center, a cycling studio, a salon, and a screening room. At Cecconi's, the menu stays Northern Italian, all day.
