Downtown Des Moines, inside the historic Savings & Loan Building of 1913. The Beaux-Arts facade sets the tone; within, old-world glamour is handled with a modern touch.

The 138 guest rooms are furnished mid-century, hung with artwork from local galleries, and finished with Sferra linens and Le Labo bath products.

Mulberry Street Tavern sits inside — rich woods, leather, the smell of the hearth. The all-day kitchen is given over to smoky hearth cooking and classic craft cocktails. Mornings begin at the Coffee Bar: locally roasted coffee, a house-made pastry. A 24-hour fitness center, with Pelotons, rounds out the house.
