The Candler Hotel
The place
Asa Griggs Candler, the Coca-Cola founder, raised this Beaux Arts building in downtown Atlanta in 1906. The lobby still carries the era — chandelier light on marble staircases, intricate reliefs overhead.
The 265 oversized rooms and suites go quieter. White and black, Art Deco-inspired furnishings, floral-patterned curtains. Classic and contemporary, held in balance.
Downstairs, By George — Hugh Acheson's restaurant — serves classic dishes with contemporary American inflections. A fitness center with machines and free weights rounds out the stay.
