The Gallivant
The place
A coastal hideaway in Rye, on the border of East Sussex and Kent, beside Camber Sands. Sigrid Cragoe's interiors land somewhere between the Hamptons and Soho House — 20 one-of-a-kind rooms and cabins, each with coastal-inspired furniture, a patterned headboard and a marble bathroom.
The garden rooms are the ones to know: light-filled, with a private deck opening straight into the coastal garden.
At the centre is Harry's, an all-day restaurant led by chef Matthew Harris. In the spirit of the grand French brasseries, it sends out share-style plates built on seasonal local produce. A yoga class runs daily in The Open Space, the hotel's studio.
