The place
A contemporary red brick building in the Garment District, opened in July 2022. Shim-Sutcliffe Architects anchored the lobby with massive concrete arches; mid-century modern furniture and touches of greenery soften them.
The 123 rooms and suites carry the same language — wooden furniture beneath concrete ceilings. Bathrooms in square tile and black brass. The basics, done well: comfortable bedding, a curated minibar, eco-friendly UKA toiletries, free wifi.
A compact fitness center with machines and free weights. Three places to eat and drink, including Alder, where Mediterranean-inspired dishes take on smoke and flame, and Evangeline, a rooftop bar facing the long line of the skyline.
