The place

Tucked into lush forest on Big Sur's rugged coastline, Alila Ventana is an all-inclusive retreat that keeps the world at a distance. The 54 rooms and suites are crafted from sun-bleached cedar — modern furniture, a private deck, a stone bathroom with a deep soaking tub. Some add an outdoor hot tub of their own.

Bathing is the ritual here. Two heated outdoor pools, an infinity-edge hot tub, and Japanese Hot Baths in the tradition of the onsen. A nature-inspired spa, a gym, guided hikes, and movement classes fill the days you want filled.
