The place
COMO The Treasury occupies the historic State Buildings in Perth, red brick from the mid-nineteenth century. With Kerry Hill Architects, the interiors were remade in a soothing neutral palette, furnished in an elegant mid-century key.
The 48 rooms and suites are each one of a kind, shaped by the original structure of the building. Premium bedding, an oversized marble bathroom, COMO Shambhala toiletries, free wifi — nothing more announced than it needs to be.
The heated indoor pool sits under soaring ceilings, light falling through floor-to-ceiling windows. There is a fitness centre and a steam room. Three restaurants share the address: Wildflower, farmer-and-forager driven; Post, a modern osteria; and Cape Arid Rooms, given over to afternoon tea.
