The place
A Calistoga institution just north of Napa, taking guests since 1952. EDG's interiors keep things nostalgic and lightly playful: mid-century furniture, original brick walls, Setra bedding, Malin & Goetz in the bath. Fifty rooms in all, plus a historic Victorian House for groups.
The mud baths are the point — Dr. Wilkinson introduced them in 1952, and they remain the ritual here. Three geothermal mineral pools draw their water straight from Calistoga's underground hot springs. Warm, faintly mineral, unhurried.
House of Better, curated by Trevor Logan, handles the table: rustic Southwestern fare and California classics, with chilled, detoxifying drinks alongside.
