The place

On the water at Lee’s Wharf in Newport, behind a white facade, Gardiner House carries the ease of a friend’s well-kept home. Curated artwork and objects fill the interiors; the 21 guest rooms are each one-of-a-kind — coastal-inspired tones, elegant furniture, tasteful motifs, marble vanities.

Matouk linens and Ortigia bath products come standard, along with a smart TV with Netflix; some rooms add a scenic private balcony or a standalone bathtub. Downstairs, chef Miguel Somoza’s Flora cooks vibrant coastal food with Mediterranean influences, and the Studio Bar pours seasonal cocktails alongside signature bites.
