The place

An old roadside motel beside Route 66, repainted a deep navy and reimagined by Adean Studios. High Country Motor Lodge, in Flagstaff, keeps its retro heart — 123 rooms, suites and stand-alone cottages in white and navy, nostalgic furnishings, wooden touches, and in each one a funky tape deck with a collection of mixtapes.

Then the surprise: Arizona's first Nordic Spa. An outdoor pool, the largest in Northern Arizona, private wooden saunas, a private fire pit, an outdoor shower under the open air. The General Store handles the rest — beer, wine, cocktails, casual plates.
