The place

Hotel Bardo hides in the Mayan Jungle outside Tulum — thatched-roof structures and concrete villas in shades of grey. The atmosphere runs moody, almost mystic: traditional materials, dim tones, the jungle pressing close.

Its 29 loft-style villas keep to the same register. Exposed concrete walls, dark wood, local handmade art. Each one holds its own plunge pool, a jungle garden, and an open-air shower.

The central pool moves through the property like a natural river. Milum, the open-air restaurant, celebrates Yucatán produce; The Kinky Room Bar handles the mixology.
