The place

A five-story new-build in Houston Heights — Bunkhouse's second address in the city — that borrows its character from the neighborhood's Arts & Crafts and Folk Victorian houses.

The 49 rooms and suites layer jewel tones, custom furniture, William Morris-inspired patterns, and vintage finds. Sferra linens, Dr. Vranjes in the bath, distinctive bathrobes on the hook. Some rooms add a private terrace or a bathtub.

Days pass between the courtyard, the library, and a small retail shop. At Hypsi, chef Terrence Gallivan cooks inventive Italian dishes in the open air.
