The place

Four captains' homes from the 1800s, gathered in Kennebunkport, Maine. The 45 rooms and suites are spread among them in three distinct styles — the Nathaniel Lord Mansion runs dark and vintage; the William Jefferds House keeps to a pristine white.

Each room is fitted with chic furniture, Serta bedding, original artwork, and Lather bath products. Some go further: deep soaking tubs, private terraces, a working fireplace for the New England cold.

There is a drawing room to retreat to, and a garden with firepits and loungers. No restaurant or bar — just a complimentary continental breakfast at the mansion each morning.
