Rakudo-An
The place
Rakudo-An is a 120-year-old farmhouse in Toyama, rice paddy fields on every side. Studio 51% Gowari Ichibu restored it with a minimal modern hand, keeping the materials close to the land — clay, wood, bamboo, Japanese washi paper, silk.
There are three spacious rooms, each given a theme: paper, silk, soil. Their calming earthy palette carries modern furniture, contemporary artwork, and traditional objects chosen with care.
Il Clima, the restaurant, cooks sophisticated Italian food from hyper-local seasonal ingredients. Beyond the table, the local cultures open up — Suzugami crafting, silk making, calligraphy.
