The place

SO/ Auckland occupies the former building of the New Zealand Reserve Bank in Britomart, reimagined with creative studios Moooi and WORLD. The public spaces lean dark and glamorous — neon light catching on contemporary furniture.

The 130 rooms and suites turn the volume down without losing the wit: quirky touches, bright pops of colour, Maraca toiletries by the bath, sumptuous bedding.

There is a 20-metre indoor pool with a jacuzzi and Finnish sauna, and a 24-hour gym with state-of-the-art equipment. Two restaurants and two bars round it out — Harbour Society for exquisite contemporary cooking, HI-SO for a drink on the roof.
