The Manner

The place

In SoHo, just east of Tribeca, The Manner reads less like a hotel than a fashionable private residence. Milanese designer Hannes Peer laid abstract marble floors against textured wooden walls, custom Italian furniture, and large contemporary artwork and installations.

The 97 rooms and suites are dressed in rich yellow and deep blue — opulent furnishings, mirrored walls, shiny metal accents, dark wooden floors, a marble bathroom. The duplex penthouse breaks rank in bold red, with a wraparound terrace, a living and dining room, and a kitchenette.

Alex Stupak's The Otter serves a seafood-focused menu in the open air, a neighborhood restaurant at heart. Sloane's stays dim and moody, made for a curated drink and something small.
