The place

A nineteenth-century townhouse in Greenwich Village, its brick and stone facade giving little away. Inside, The Marlton keeps to old-world habits — ornamental moldings, antique rugs, lighting kept low.

The 112 rooms and suites follow in an elegant white palette: vintage furnishings, wooden herringbone floors, crown moldings, brass fixtures, a marble bathroom. A few penthouse suites open onto spacious private rooftop terraces with scenic views.

Downstairs, Margaux draws its seasonal menu from the eastern Mediterranean, France, and California. The classic cocktail bar keeps evenings unhurried. Breakfast each morning is complimentary.
