The Standard, High Line
The place
Between Chelsea and Greenwich Village, The Standard, High Line rises in glass and concrete by Ennead Architects, close to the water. The lobby leans retro-futuristic — mirrored ceilings, perforated screens, contemporary furniture.
The 338 rooms and suites keep to white and wood, warmed by Mid-Century pieces and ceramic bathroom tiles. Floor-to-ceiling windows fill them with light; in some, a bathtub faces the city or the river. Italian linens and custom bath products throughout.
Five venues handle food and drink. The Standard Grill takes its cues from classic steakhouses and New American cooking, while La Plaz keeps a playful Mexican menu and drink list. A 24-hour gym holds machines and free weights.
