A concrete building on Sunset Boulevard, softened from within. 1 Hotel West Hollywood is built around an earthy palette and greenery that weaves through every space; much of the wooden furniture is made from salvaged local fallen trees.

The 285 rooms and suites follow the same quiet logic — native plants, earthen plaster, reclaimed wood. Floor-to-ceiling windows, plush bedding, a large marble bathroom, Bamford toiletries.

Up on the roof, a lively pool with expansive views. Below it, a 24-hour gym and three places to eat and drink, among them 1 Kitchen, for farm-to-table Southern California cooking, and Harriet's Rooftop, with a curated cocktail menu.
