Capella Ubud

The place

In the Keliki Valley just north of Ubud, a camp of dark grey tents by architect Bill Bensley, pitched among luxuriant forest. Raw and immersive — Bali's untouched landscape, at arm's length.

The 23 tents come in five styles, each with its own personality, each telling a chapter of Marco Polo's expedition from China to Indonesia. Vintage oriental furnishings, a plush king bed, a private pool with loungers, an outdoor dining area, a hammered copper bath. And the jungle, everywhere you look.

There is also a 30-meter rainforest pool ringed by trees and loungers, and a compact gym with machines and free weights. Among the dining venues, Api Jiwa serves bold Asian omakase in a breezy open-air setting.
