The place

A monumental 17th-century mansion between the 3rd and 4th arrondissements, once a private residence, now a 5-star hotel in the Marais. It reads like an art collector’s house — paintings, statues, old books, collectibles gathered room by room.

Old and new are left to talk quietly. Original hand-painted beams, shutters, and terracotta tiles sit against large stainless steel panels and contemporary objects. With just 12 rooms and suites, the privacy and space are unmatched.

Below, a hidden Roman bath; treatments come to the room. 19 Place des Vosges, the small all-day cafe, serves light gourmet fare from breakfast through afternoon tea to dinner, while a corner of Brach-La Pâtisserie keeps to traditional desserts and pastries.
