The place
A 36,000-acre estate in the foothills of the Craigieburn Valley, where the South Island does most of the talking. The 18 suites, split between villas and private homesteads, are earthy and modern — organic textures, private decks, and views that need no explanation.
The homestead keeps an outdoor pool and hot spa; the villa's deluxe suite adds a lounge with a gas fireplace and its own music system. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. Sugarloaf, the alpine restaurant, builds its menu from regional and home-grown produce — and the land beyond is made for exploring.
