The place

A black metal and glass building in Montreal, opened in October 2023. Inside, the facade gives way to contemporary Art Deco — grand lighting, curvy modern furniture, intricate touches of velvet, gold, and wood.

The 143 rooms and suites are more understated, though the Deco line holds: crisp white walls, dark wooden floors, deep red velvet seating. Deluxe bedding, a large marble bathroom, a work desk, floor-to-ceiling windows.

On the 15th floor, a tranquil indoor pool looks out across the city. There is also a state-of-the-art fitness center, a dry sauna, and a spa. Two places to dine — COMMODORE, in a French bistro style, and Muze Lounge & Terrasse, in a California register.
