The place

An 1870s building in the hip Poble Sec district, refurbished by Inma Rábano and Blankslate with a tropical utilitarian aesthetic born of a trip to Sri Lanka.

Twenty rooms, no more. Glossy turquoise tiles in the bathrooms, raw terracotta and wooden floors, black metal edges. The bedding is plush; the wifi, free.

For a small hotel it gives a lot: an outdoor pool, a large garden terrace, a revitalizing sauna, a cute boutique. On the ground floor, Palo Cortao cooks fresh Andalusian and Catalan dishes alongside an extensive wine list.
