The place

A 1920s bank building in Nihombashi, its concrete facade left rustic, its interior reimagined by the Swedish studio Claesson Koivisto Rune. Inside, quirky furnishing, large plants, and dark wooden accents come together with quiet intricacy.

The 20 rooms and suites turn around blue, green, and red. Traditional Japanese tie-dye veils hang by the beds, rice paper lamps glow, and lofty ceilings let the rooms breathe.

Four places to eat and drink sit within the hotel. Caveman, on the first floor, moves between Japanese, French, and Danish cooking. Ao is smaller — an intimate, velvety salon of cocktails and teas.
