Hotel Marcel
The place
Marcel Breuer designed this brutalist building in New Haven, Connecticut, in the 1970s, and it remains a destination in itself. With Brooklyn studio Dutch East Design, the interior has been remade with a measured mid-century modern charm — concrete outside, warmth within.
The 165 rooms and suites keep to the same discipline. Minimal, refined, furnished with Bauhaus-inspired pieces, curated objects, and dark wooden touches. Bespoke Serta bedding and Italian-tiled showers finish the rooms.
A modern fitness center holds free weights and machines. In the lobby, BLDG — chef Megan Gill's sustainable restaurant and bar — serves all day, drawing on seasonal local flavors.
