The place

In Lana, between vineyards and orchards, Hotel Schwarzschmied has been slowly remade in local natural materials — light colors, wooden tones, nothing rushed.

The 68 rooms and suites are filled with light: white against wood, furnishings pared to the minimum. Each has a private balcony; each keeps comfortable bedding, a Marshall speaker, and a few organic treats within reach.

The outdoor pool and sundeck look out across the vines. There is also a ten-meter indoor pool, a gym, a yoga space, a steam bath, a bio-sauna, and a Finnish sauna in the open air. The kitchen works with farmers nearby, farm to table — at La Fucina, vegetables lead the menu.
