The place

An old motel steps from the main beach in Laguna, quietly turned into a seaside getaway. Southern California surf culture runs through it — open-concept public spaces, chic vintage furnishing, wooden floors, plants where they make sense.

The 36 pet-friendly rooms read like beach cottages: breezy white, rattan chairs, a surfboard hung on the wall, patterned cushions. Beauty Rest bedding, a desk, a TV, free wifi. Some open onto private balconies with the ocean in view.

At the center, a pool ringed by green-striped loungers and umbrellas, jacuzzi alongside. Morning coffee, evening wine hours, a firepit, a surf shop. No restaurant on-site — plenty of places to eat and drink nearby.
