The place
Reopened in 2023 after a full refurbishment, this hotel sits at the edge of Melbourne's CBD and refuses to be serious. Luchetti Krelle styled the interiors — geometric patterns, colour arriving in sudden pops.
The 43 rooms and suites carry the Memphis-inspired palette through, with vibrant modern furnishing. Plush bedding, a work desk, a TV, coffee and tea facilities, a minibar, free wifi. Breakfast is complimentary, sweets appear all day, and self-service laundry sits on site.
Downstairs, Amphlett House pours craft beers, wines and handcrafted cocktails, with elevated pub food built on local Victorian produce.
