L’Oscar
The place
L'Oscar was once the headquarters of the Baptist Church. Now the Grade II-listed building near Covent Garden is something else entirely — a theatrical, maximalist interior by Jacques Garcia, deep purple against gold.
Each of the 39 rooms and suites is its own composition: jewel-tone walls, vintage furnishings, oil paintings, Art Deco details. Icelandic eiderdown duvets and bespoke bath products soften the drama.
Downstairs, L'Oscar Restaurant takes its cue from Café Florian in Venice, the world's oldest café — moody, open all day, with refined dishes and a traditional afternoon tea. The Baptist Bar sits beneath an imposing octagonal dome, its historic embellishments intact.
