Michelberger Hotel

The place

Michelberger Hotel occupies a 19th-century factory in Friedrichshain, and it never pretends otherwise. Danish architect Sigurd Larsen left the concrete columns exposed in the lobby, setting rustic furnishing against 1960s-inspired lighting.

The 100 accommodations come in many shapes. The 23 newest rooms are the ones to note — shades of grey, chic industrial furnishing, modified plywood panels, terrazzo tiles cool underfoot.

The eatery runs all day, spilling from the indoor room into the central courtyard. The menu stays seasonal and local, drawing on sustainable farmers, suppliers, and the hotel's own Michelberger Farm in Spreewald.
