The place

On the Champs-Élysées, near the Arc de Triomphe, a classic Haussmann building with an ivory face. Inside, the light drops — dark, moody rooms threaded with old-world glamour.

The 46 rooms and suites come in two temperaments. Most run to black and navy: vintage-inspired furniture, checkerboard floors, lacquered touches, a bathroom in black stone. A few instead are dressed white-on-white, like a held breath.

There is a fitness room, a hammam, a sauna, a spa. And there is Galanga — chef Thomas Danigo's Michelin-starred dining room of aromatic modern dishes — with Monsieur George at lunch, serving bistro plates built on local produce.
