The place
A former motel in Mollymook, on the NSW south coast, a stone's throw from the beach. The new facades come in pastels; inside, white and soft colour continue, with a nod to Palm Springs and the Mediterranean.
The 16 rooms run from generous suites to three-bedroom apartments, dreamy and lightly nostalgic. Leather headboards, Moroccan-style sunken baths, Mediterranean tiling, handmade ceramics — plus Le Labo toiletries and a smart TV with Netflix.
The kidney-shaped outdoor pool is the centre of it, ringed by lounge beds and outdoor showers. BBQ facilities and an outdoor dining area wait nearby, and cruisers and surfboards are free to borrow. No restaurant on-site; the town's tables are close.
