Basq House

The place

Basq House opened in April 2024, a modern new building in the centre of Byron Bay. Local designer Léo Terrando styled it with a nod to Moroccan riads — colourful, modern, warm.

The 32 open-plan rooms take a quieter line: white and wood, exposed concrete overhead, brass fixtures, and bathrooms tiled in deep red. Many open onto a Juliette or full balcony.

Outside, a courtyard pool with daybeds and cabanas. There is a library, a lounge, Lekker bikes and surfboards for the taking. No formal restaurant — just drinks and snacks, served wherever in the public areas you happen to be sitting.
