Hotel Marvell

The place

Concrete and burnt orange brick in the centre of Byron Bay, steps from the shops and restaurants of the surf town. Harley Graham Architects shaped the contemporary brutalist building; the hotel opened in August 2023.

Inside, the 24 rooms and suites stay in shades of burnt orange — a cosy bohemian line of timber floors, modern wooden furniture and exposed concrete ceilings, a white-tiled bathroom off to one side. Bemboka & Eadie bedding, Leif toiletries, a Nespresso machine, a smart TV.

On the roof, a heated pool faces the whole coastline. Take a drink from the rooftop bar to a lounger and stay put. Downstairs, Bonito cooks seafood.
