Byron Bay, Australia
The Sunseeker
The place
The Sunseeker sits on the southern side of Byron Bay, New South Wales, in an old brick building that spent its first life as a motel. The owners kept that history close — an eighties nostalgia, gently reimagined.
Local artists, craftspeople, makers, and designers shaped the interiors. Circular windows, moody corners, chic furniture, pops of yellow and red. The past is present, but quieter.
Twelve guest rooms and a couple of bungalows, each fitted out with bespoke furnishings and handcrafted pieces. Plush bedding, Leif bath amenities, a private patio or balcony, a TV, fast wifi.
Outside, a kidney-shaped mineral pool ringed by daybeds and greenery. The tropical poolside bar pours cocktails and light bites. Indoors, a library. For children, a playground.
