Pa.te.os

The place

Ninety minutes from Lisbon, near Melides, four concrete houses sit low in the landscape. Pa.te.os was drawn by the architecture studio Aires Mateus — modernist, precise, nearly silent in its rural setting.

Each house holds one to three bedrooms in neutral and wooden shades, with concrete and brass details, minimal contemporary furniture, Bang & Olufsen speakers, Aesop bath products, a bathtub, a kitchenette and a private patio.

The triangular infinity pool is the sole flourish, its edge giving way to rolling vineyards. Breakfast arrives at your door each morning. There is no restaurant — only a small share-style menu and a curated list of local wines, on demand.
