Piaule Catskill

The place

Piaule Catskill was created by the homeware brand Piaule, and it shows. The design retreat in the Hudson Valley Catskills carries the label's minimalist, modernist philosophy into the woods — a quiet meeting of Scandinavian and Japanese sensibilities, rendered in wood.

There are no rooms here. Instead, 24 private cabins float among the trees, each fitted with handcrafted furniture, Piaule linens, a stone-tiled bathroom, and antique objects. One wall is glass, floor to ceiling. The forest does the rest.

At the communal guesthouse, a hot pool cast in concrete recalls a Japanese onsen. A mineral plunge, sauna, steam room, and yoga studio round out the wellness offering, and the cozy restaurant builds its menu from seasonal produce grown by local farms and purveyors.
