The place
A 1960s motor lodge on a hillside in Hunter, remade by Brooklyn studio Post Company into a modern reading of the mountain lodge. Hunter Mountain sits at the door.
The 49 rooms, suites, and cabins stay quiet: calming neutral hues, dark maple floors, vintage rugs, bespoke furnishing, curated objects, a terracotta-tiled shower. The newly added round cabins are the standout — each with a Japanese soaking tub and its own lawn or deck.
The outdoor pool faces the mountains. There is also a cozy library and lounge, a sauna, a kids' zone, a rink, a garden. Prospect Restaurant & Bar serves New American food all day, al fresco, from fresh local produce.
