The place

A restored 1950s retreat in the heart of Palm Springs. Sparrows Lodge keeps its rustic bones — a communal barn, an outdoor fire pit, a vegetable garden — and lets the desert do the rest.

The 20 rooms are built from exposed beam ceilings, raw stone walls, and bespoke wooden furnishings, each with a private patio. Small comforts, too: an SMEG fridge, Italian linens, Grown Alchemist toiletries.

Days settle around the heated outdoor pool, its hot tub and day beds. The historic red barn is now The Barn Kitchen, cooking simple rustic American food from fresh Californian produce, in the spirit of the Coachella Valley nearby.
