The place
A majestic stone building in Belgravia, beside Hyde Park. Refurbished many times over the years, its interiors layer the work of David Collins, John Heah, Robert Angell and others into a single, unhurried whole.
The 190 rooms and suites vary. Andre Fu's Opus Suite is oriental-inflected, earthy and lavish; the Grand Terrace Suite is clean-lined, all floor-to-ceiling glass and a private terrace. B&O speakers and Dyson hairdryers throughout.
Up top, striped loungers ring a rooftop pool that looks over the green of Hyde Park. There is also Surrenne, a private wellness club with an indoor pool, a steam room, a state-of-the-art gym, a yoga studio and treatment rooms. The dining runs from all-day plates to alpine cuisine.
