The Screen
The place
The Screen occupies a contemporary stone building in central Kyoto. Thirteen rooms, each by a different domestic or international designer — each one a separate idea. Room 102, by Naoki Ishibashi, turns on the traditional tatami tea room: moody lighting, pops of red. Others go spare and modern.
Every room keeps the essentials close. Comfortable bedding, KORRES toiletries, a TV, a Nespresso machine, free wifi.
BRON RONNERY, the signature restaurant, works in contemporary French cuisine. The cafe lounge serves light meals through the day, and on the rooftop, a lounge bar looks out over Kyoto as the evening settles.
