The place

An angular glass building by Olson Kundig, near Pike Place Market. The interiors are sleek and unfussy; the light does most of the talking.

Each of the 152 rooms is fitted with mid-century furniture, Sferra linens, and D.S. & Durga toiletries, behind floor-to-ceiling windows. In many, the bay fills the glass.

A gym with machines and free weights runs around the clock. At the top of the building, The Nest mixes bold cocktails and serves snacks with Elliott Bay and the Olympic Mountains spread beyond the rail. Downstairs, Conversation Kitchen cooks new American food from the abundance of the Pacific Northwest.
