The place

A 1960s motor inn in Palm Springs, remade with Commune Design into something raw, breezy, and quietly nostalgic. White brick and raw stone outside; chic industrial decor and easy color within.

The 180 rooms and suites borrow from national parks and desert road movies. A retro Music Hall radio, vibrant patterned rugs, local artwork — and tent-like flaps that open straight onto the patio. Multiple accessible rooms are available.

The heart of it is the pool: large, irregular, ringed by loungers and greenery. A spa sits in-house. King's Highway serves a seasonal menu with Mexican and Cajun influences; Amigo Room handles the drinks.
