The place

Al Moudira stands on eight hectares in Luxor — domes, deep arches, a kind of unhurried grandeur. The suites and villas carry antique furniture and hand-painted frescoes alongside modern amenities; the villas add a private pool and courtyard of their own.

Days pass between the large outdoor pool and the gardens. There is a hammam, a sauna and steam room, treatment rooms, a gym.

At dinner, Ottoman Hall moves between Mediterranean, Asian, and South American ideas, while Khan Al Moudira keeps to traditional Egyptian cooking.
