The place

Hidden inside a colonial-style building from 1529, in the historic centre of Oaxaca City. The old architecture stands as it was; lush greenery and quiet modern touches have moved in around it. Nine rooms only, in rustic earthy hues, with handcrafted pieces and curated artwork.

The heart of the house is the courtyard — beautiful archways, majestic stone columns. Above, a rooftop terrace where a cocktail comes with sweeping views of the city.

Muss, the all-day café, handles continental breakfasts, toasts, natural wines and coffee. For more formal meals, the centre's restaurants and bars are steps away.
